Dolores R Voss, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 8:45 p.m. in Waters of Duneland, Chesterton, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with the Rev. Walter Rakoczy officiating.  Cremation will follow services and ashes interred privately in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.  

She was born April 27, 1931 in South Bend, IN to the late Julius and Aletha (Helmlinger) Szalay.  On June 30, 1956 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, IN she married James H. Voss who preceded her on July 7, 2003.

Surviving are  4 daughters, Mary (Bob) Keleher of Carmel, IN, Leanne  Voss of Michigan City, IN, Dolores "Dj" (Steve) Laughrey of Valparaiso, IN, and Carol Voss of Portage, MI; son, James (Cheryl) Voss of Wanatah, IN;  2 grandchildren, Grant Michael Laughrey, and Chase Steven Laughrey, both of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Loretta (Tom) Schafer of South Bend, IN; and brother, James (Karin) Szalay of Georgia.

Dolores was a buyer for Royal Hawaiian Jewelers in South Bend. After she and Jim started their family and moved to MIchigan City, Dolores channeled her creativity for 30+ years with "Seasons", her craft business focusing on pinecone artistry. Dolores also served as President of the Town of Pines from 1988-1999 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
