I have had the pleasure of knowing Bill since 1983, when as a young rookie, he took me under his wing and taught me the old school way of working with clients. Bill finally got to see the end of the Cubs World-Series futility, and I know that brought him great joy. I am better because of knowing Bill, his big heart, and joy of life. bill had many great phrases, but my favorite is: FAST PAY MAKES FAST FRIENDS! Peace to you, Bill.

Bill was at Shearson Hayden Stone when I began my career in 1977 and he quickly became a mentor and friend. I always enjoyed talking to him about our business, however, it was especially fun to talk about skiing and tennis. What a great wit he had. I also was lucky [or maybe not so] to get to play a little tennis with Bill who was one of those sneaky, good players who never looked liked they were working that hard on the court, yet he always won! Sorry to see Bill go and I extend my sympathies to his family.
