Richard S. Kamont, 82,  Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 1:10 pm in Hospice Franciscan Communities.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday , July 1, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with full military services conducted by the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The St. Joseph Young Men's Society will recite the Rosary at 7:00 pm and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 pm, both Tuesday in the funeral chapel.

He was born January 24, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Ludwik and Martha (Wojasinski) Kamont. On June 4, 1960 in Michigan City, IN he married ValJean Rogers who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Phillips of Westville, IN; son, Charles (Susanne) Kamont of Westville, IN; nine grandchildren, Justin Kamont, Bryan Kamont, Timothy Kamont, Thomas Kamont, Tyler Kamont, Veronica Eckl, Kathryn Shear, Olivia Phillips and Grace Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Parker Kamont and Lillian Kamont; and his sister, Adele Retseck of Michigan City, IN.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard P. Kamont; and sister, Delphine Kinst.

Richard retired as a crew scheduler for Eastern Airlines and also was an engineer at WIMS Radio. He was U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, American Legion Skwiat Post 451, American Legion Skwiat Post 451 Honor Guard, V.F.W. 2536 and the United Polka Association. Richard enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and was the host of Dick Kamont's Polka Party on Sunday afternoon on the local radio station since 1972.
