Larry B. Harris, 77, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at 3:24 a.m. in Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Michigan City, IN.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at New Creation Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 9009 W. Pahs Rd, Michigan City, IN with Pastor David Swartz officiating. The ACME Lodge #83 F&AM will conduct a memorial service and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will perform military services both Saturday at the church. Cremation will take place. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born March 16, 1939 in La Porte, IN to the late Howard and Emily (Stiber) Harris. On August 24, 1979 in La Porte, IN he married Patricia Granacki who survives in Michigan City, IN.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Harris-Wanninger of Indianapolis, IN, Danita (Mertus, Jr.) Clark-Corley of Michigan City, IN; three grandchildren, Brittany Clark, Mertus (Esmeralda) Corley III, Mertees Corley all of Michigan City, IN.
Larry served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1965. He retired in 2015 after 8 years as an airport lineman from Michigan City Municipal Airport in Michigan City, IN. He was a member of ACME Lodge #83, F & A.M. where he served as worshipful master in 2005 and 2006. He served as commander of the American Legion Skwait Post 451 of Michigan City for 3 years from 2013-2016. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football, NASCAR, and White Sox Baseball. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his dog, "Sarge".
