Joseph J. Craig, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 5:20 pm in Life Care Center of Michigan City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private entombment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Wednesday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The St. Joseph Young Men's Society will recite the Rosary at 6:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral chapel. The American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will conduct full military services Thursday at the church.
He was born July 8, 1932 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Bernard and Cecelia (Janicki) Chrapkowski. On June 11, 1960 in LaPorte, IN he married Agnes "Aggie" Kozlowski who survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Marilyn Craig of Oakland, California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Korczyk, Catherine Kniola and Eleanor Dallie; and his brother, John Chrapkowski.
Joseph retired as a maintenance mechanic at Criterion Catalyst and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Moose Family Center 980, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, American Legion Skwiat Post 451, the PRCU-LaPorte and enjoyed golfing.
