Robert K. Sass, 67, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 as result of a auto accident.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 3:00 PM till 7:00 PM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be offered Friday, June 3, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating.  There will be a gathering and fellowship immediately following service in St. Stanislaus Church Hall (lower level of the church).  

He was born July 28, 1954 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Mary (Reel) Sass . On October 14, 1989 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Kathleen Jankowski who survives La Porte, Indiana.  Also surviving is a son, Elliott (Kristen Palmer) Sass of Oskaloosa, Iowa; four sisters, Carol Peterson of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Martha (David) Arney of St. Joseph, Michigan, Paula (Brian) Gannon of La Porte, Indiana and  Mary Beth (David) Kiningham of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy (Dennis) Burke of La Porte, Indiana along with several nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Richard Peterson; mother and father-in-law, Eugene and Helen Jankowski; nephew, Dennis K. Burke and special canine friends, Janie and Mocha Moon;   

Bob was a construction residential project manager. He attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was a member of the National Hunting Retriever Club where is was a field representative and Grand judge.  He enjoyed dog training and was influential for a lot of amateur handlers with his knowledge, patience, understanding, always willing to lend a helping hand.
