Paul David Haas
January 31, 1939 - March 16, 2023

Paul David Haas, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023 at St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Buffalo and 10th Street, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. David Kime officiating. Visitation will be from 10:45 a.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.

Paul was born January 31, 1939, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late William and Anna (Malloy) Haas. On October 31, 1964, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Chesterton, Indiana, he married Sharon Mae (White) Haas, who survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Kurt Haas and David (Angelique "Angie") Haas, both of Michigan City, IN; one daughter, Michelle Haas-Milligan of Michigan City, IN; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Haas Milligan; two sisters, Marie (Horst) Bauchrowitz and Lucille (James) Kizer; and three brothers, James Haas, Joseph (Barbara) Haas, and Robert Haas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kathryn Schramm; and three brothers, William Haas, Jr., Thomas Haas, and Patrick Haas.

Paul honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. During his service, he was stationed in Paris, France. He was a devout Catholic and long-time member of St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Michigan City. For more than 30 years, he was an electrician at NIPSCO. Paul was a volunteer and coached boys basketball, boys baseball, and girls softball for the Catholic Youth Organization and volunteered himself for usher duties at Saturday night mass at his church. An avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan, he rarely missed a Saturday football game for more than 60 years. Rule of the family, as well, was, "No one was allowed to get married on Notre Dame Saturdays." Over the years, he created many memorable memories with his family. Including traveling with his wife and family, experiencing the world on cruises, fishing trips to Canada with his son, David, and deer hunting with his son, Kurt. Quite often he spoke of his experiences of France with his granddaughter, especially suggesting places for her to visit for her upcoming trip this summer. Paul cherished and enjoyed the time spent with his wonderful wife, Sharon. He will be truly missed by family and friends.
