Patricia Jean Sheeler Mahlka, 83, Buchanan, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 4:28 am in her home.

Private family services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling Arrangements.    

She was born April 14, 1939 in Michigan City, IN to the late Theodore and Agnes (Dombkowski) Purta. On September 7, 1957 in Michigan City, IN she married Ronald Sheeler who preceded her on August 15, 1995. Then on October 24, 2001 in Three Oaks, MI she married Kenneth Mahlka, Sr., who preceded her on June 29, 2011. 

Surviving are three grandchildren, Allison (Jason Rudecki) Brown of Buchanan, MI, Danielle Brown of Michigan City, IN and Sierra Sheeler of Grand Beach, MI; great-grandchild, Braden Huffer; sister, Karen (Dennis) Rude of Spring, TX; nephew, Robert (Joyce) Rude of Spring, TX; and foster daughter, Kimberly Shea Reichert of Glendale, AZ.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy Sheeler.

Patricia had worked as cashier at Jewel Food Store and K & M Foods. She was a baker and an amazing cook of Polish food who was known for her apple pie and beef and noodles. Patricia was a livelong sports fan, especially watching the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows and working sudoku puzzles. She was also a foster mother for many years.
