James E. Lippens, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 10:38 AM in his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating., Burial with follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana with full military services conducted. Visitation hours will be Friday from 9:00 AM till 10:30 AM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born October 6, 1936 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late James W. Lippens, Jr. and Pearl (Paskiet) Lippens Ruggles. On June 23, 1962 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Georgia Shebel who preceded him in death February 7, 2014. Surviving are daughter, Mary Ellen (Steve) Sebert of La Porte, Indiana; son, James G. Lippens of Michigan City, Indiana; grandsons, Bradley (Morgan) Sebert, Nicholas (Tareyn) Sebert both of Michigan City, Indiana, and Steven Sebert of La Porte, Indiana; He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Lee Lippens and Robert "Lefty" Lippens;
Jim retired from NIPSCO working as an welding instructor and line and gas supervisor. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and usher. He was a member of St. Joseph Young Men's Society, US Army veteran and enjoyed fishing, especially the fishing trips to Minnesota. He was a true fan of the Chicago White Sox, Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame Football. His greatest love though was his grandsons who referred to him as "Papa".
