Barbara J. Piechnik, 93, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:45 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM, and Thursday from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will recite the Rosary at 4:00 PM Wednesday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
She was born November 13, 1928 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Ignace and Mildred (Ostrowski) Burdick. On September 1, 1948 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Adam Piechnik who preceded her in death on November 6, 2003. Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Larry) Berg of Michigan City, Indiana, Anne (Joseph) Kulasa of Laporte, Indiana; two sons, Richard "Rick" (Donna) Piechnik of La Porte, Indiana, Michael (Sandy) Piechnik of South Bend, Indiana; two granddaughters, Erin (Jeffrey) Dettman of Trail Creek, Indiana, Katherine (Craig) Stevens of Lockport, Illinois; five grandsons, Richard (Brandi) Piechnik of Laporte, Indiana, Justin (Abigail) Piechnik of Mishawaka, Indiana, Andrew (Lindsey) Piechnik of Lafayette, Indiana, Joel Baker of North Carolina and Shelby Baker of South Bend, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Heather Piechnik, Halie Piechnik, Ava Piechnik, Cece Stevens, Dominik Dettman, Oliver Dettman, Atticus Stevens, Aydan Dettman, Aidan Piechnik, Madison Luke and Clinton Luke, Jr.; sister, Diana (Donald) Kabacinski of La Porte, Indiana along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Burdick
Barbara was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Stanislaus Church Consolation Choir and the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality. She retired from the office of the Michigan Township Trustee and was secretary for St. Stanislaus Cemetery for many years.
