Allen S. Kring

Allen S. Kring, 79, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at 12:13 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Indiana. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am -1:00 pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Full military services will be conducted at Greenwood Cemetery. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.    

He was born June 11, 1941 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Steve R. and Irma (Kriesel) Kring. On April 2, 1964 in Tucson, Arizona he married JoAnn (Norby) Kring who survives in La Porte, Indiana. 

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy (Mark) Swift of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stephanie (Mike) Dusza of La Porte, Indiana; son, Steve C. (Tracy) Kring of La Porte, Indiana; six Grandchildren, Marcus Swift of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mallory Swift of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Elizabeth Dusza of La Porte, Indiana, Justin Dusza of La Porte, Indiana, Alex Kring of La Porte, Indiana, Ollie Kring of La Porte, Indiana; sister, Susan (Al) Green of La Porte, Indiana.    

Allen attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Elston High School graduating in 1960. He went into the United States Air Force proudly serving the United States which took him to Alaska and then was based in Arizona. After returning home he worked for Pullman Standard and NIPSCO. His faith in God was his strength and being kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Allen and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Allen dealt with all experiences in life, the same way he managed his illness, with strength and grace, and admirable courage. He always wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his family who he adored more than anything else in the world. He loved teaching his grandchildren about God, fishing, playing golf, cutting wood, family vacations to Arizona and spending time with friends.
