JoAnn Phillips, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at 4:40 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

She was born April 29, 1940 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Dolores(Chilvers) Essling. On October 15, 1976 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Donald C. Phillips who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving is a daughter, Pamela (David) Scroggin of La Porte, Indiana; two sons, Timothy (Brenda) Hayman of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Jeffrey (Lannette) Hayman of Macomb, Michigan; brother, William "Bill" Essling of Holland, Michigan along with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Darlene Phillips Ball and two brothers, Jack and Kenneth Essling.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of Queen of All Saint's Catholic Church, Michigan City Senior Center, and the Red Hat Society. She retired in 1997 after 27 years from Weil-McLain as an administrative assistant.
