Arthur J. Goede, 89, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1:19 am in his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with full military services conducted by the V.F.W. 2536 and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN and from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was born January 23, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Arthur and Mamie (Wojciechowski) Goede. On May 14, 1955 in New Buffalo, MI he married Virginia Gauthier who preceded him on June 8, 2010.

Surviving are six children, Kathy Newman of Michigan City, IN, Denise (William) Chapin of LaPorte, IN, Teri (Barry) Allison of Michigan City, IN, Brian (Carla) Goede of Valparaiso, IN, Michelle (Tara Miles) Goede of Mishawaka, IN and Michael John (Michelle) Goede of South Bend, IN; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael James Goede; grandchild, Scott Wolter; great-grandchild, Ellie Melnyk; and sister, Mary Konda.

Arthur retired as a fire fighter from the Michigan City Fire Department and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting and attending auctions.
