Walter J. Schrombeck, 64, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at Northwest Health – La Porte.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.
He was born January 5, 1961, in Knox, Indiana, to the late Gerald W. Schrombeck and Ora Lea (Tolson) Bergman.
Surviving are three sons, Adam Schrombeck of Hopkins, MN; Justin Schrombeck of Hibbing, MN; and Derek Schrombeck of Hibbing, MN; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Sherry Ann Boo and Kimberly Schrombeck; and his former wife, Gladys Schrombeck. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Schrombeck; and one sister, Debbie Netherland.
Walter proudly served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1985. After his military service, he worked in construction and carpentry for many years. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar and was always up for a good time. Known affectionately as “Uncle Wally,” he had a soft heart for family and friends and was loved by many.
