ValJean Kamont, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:20 am in Trail Creek Place, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 26, 2021 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021 and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am, Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The Rosary will be conducted at 4:00 pm, Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
She was born October 2, 1936 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Jackson and Lucille (Kilnowitz) Rogers. On June 4, 1960 in Michigan City, IN she married Richard S. Kamont who preceded June 27, 2015.
Surviving are daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Phillips of Westville, IN; son, Charles (Susanne) Kamont of Michigan City, IN; seven grandchildren, Justin (Christie) Kamont, Bryan Kamont, Timothy (Erin) Kamont, Thomas Kamont, Tyler (Tiffany) Kamont, Sr., Olivia Phillips, Grace Phillips; four great-grandchildren, Parker Kamont, Lillian Kamont, Tyler Kamont, Jr., Atticus Kamont; two sisters, Sharon (Mike) Marciniak of Michigan City, IN, Jacquie (Craig) Simpson of Michigan City, IN; brother, Patrick (Cheryl) Rogers of Michigan City, IN; She was preceded in death by son, Richard P. Kamont; sister, Joyce Rogers; two brothers, Robert Rogers, Michael Rogers.
ValJean was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking dinners. ValJean was a cheer leading coach for many years at Rogers High School. She also enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dunes Hospice, especially Joy and Pam, along with all of the staff from Trail Creek Place for their compassion and care.
