Thomas F. Malcer, 70, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 at 7:53 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private burial will take place. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The St. Joseph Young Men's Society will recite the Rosary at 5:30 pm and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536 will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 pm, both Friday in the funeral chapel. Full Military Services will be conducted Saturday at the church.
He was born June 7, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Stella (Siwek) Malcer. On September 22, 1973 in Michigan City, IN he married Susan Wiencek who survives in Michigan City, IN.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kari Weiss of Michigan City, IN; son, Kevin (Trish Taylor) Malcer of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren, Zachary Malcer, Jacob Weiss, Nathaniel Weiss and Olivia Wiess; sister, Theresa (Alvin) Gorski of Rochester, MN; and his beloved companion, Zazoo.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra and Sonya Malcer.
Tom retired as an operator at NIPSCO and was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 Honor Guard. Tom was a Boy Scout Leader and an usher at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and loved his grandchildren and his dog.
