Thomas Paul Jarka, 83, Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:45 am in Northwest Health-La Porte.

Private services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.    

He was born March 26, 1940 in Michigan City, IN to the late Theodore and Lillian (Tomaszewski) Jarka. On June 22, 1963 in New Buffalo, MI he married Joyce Hut who survives in Rolling Prairie, IN.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas (Kelly) Jarka of Rolling Prairie, IN, Ted (Suzanne) Jarka of Rolling Prairie, IN and Todd (Shelly) Jarka of Hanna, IN; seven grandchildren, Brock (Kristina) Jarka, Margaux (Joseph) Kozlak, Audrey Jarka, Grant Jarka, Brody Jarka, Ethan Jarka and Molly Jarka; and three great-grandchildren, Boden, Nayvee and Brinley.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Proffitt; and brother, James Jarka.  

Thomas worked for Howard Deutscher from 1962-1968 and then for Songer Construction retiring in 2000 as a foreman. He was a member of the Bricklayer's Union Local #4 and the Bricklayer's International Union. Thomas enjoyed Elk hunting in Colorado, fishing in Florida during the winter months and spending time with grandchildren attending their sporting events.
