July 18, 1949 - February 24, 2024
Thomas G. Howe, 74, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 4:30 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Gregory Bim-Merle officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
He was born July 18, 1949 in Walldorf, Germany to the late Thomas and Liesel (Kraus) Howe. On August 5, 1978 in Michigan City, IN he married Colleen Kingsley Howe who survives in Trail Creek, IN.
Also surviving are two daughters, Maureen Henn of Citrus Springs, FL and Bonnie Bell of Michigan City, IN; son, Thomas C. Howe of Washington, DC; five grandchildren, Marie, Layla, Joseph, Aaron and Charley; two great-grandchildren, James and Lillianna; sister, Eva Cooney of Noblesville, IN; and two brothers, Richard (Julie) Howe and Harry (Barb) Howe both of Hayward, WI.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Glen-Ian Howe; and sister, Tina Hunt.
He retired after 23years as a Captain with the Michigan City Police Department and was a Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps and a Vietnam Veteran. Thomas also had worked for 20 years at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and was a part-time Police Officer for the Town of Beverly Shores, IN. He was a 1989 graduate of Purdue University and a member of F.O.P. Dunes Lodge #75 and the American Legion John Franklin Miller Post 37 (Past Commander). Thomas enjoyed camping, cooking, gardening, motorcycle riding and growing orchids.
