Susan Powers, 59, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at Franciscan Health Michigan City on April 15, 2023. 

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 21, 2023 at 6:00 PM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating.  Private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana.  Visitation hours will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel

Susan was born May 19th, 1963 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late John Sobieski and Patricia (Yagelski) Childers.   Surviving are husband Russell Powers, son James Powers and daughter Beth (Zach) Spoljoric; grandchildren Silas, Lawson, Tucker, and Duncan Spoljoric. Siblings Debbie (Ken) Hellenga, Dennis (Dawn) Sobieski, Tim (Kim) Sobieski, Tammy Sobieski, Steve (Candi) Sobieski, Lisa Childers and Laura Childers; sister-in-law Lori Grant and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.   She is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Betty and Robert "Sonny" Powers; brother-in-laws Paul Powers and James Powers; nephews Cory Sobieski and Robert Grant. 

Susan married Russell Powers on March 17, 1983. Her favorite job was being “Nana” to her four grandsons, whom she adored and were her world. She loved her furbabies, especially her chihuahua Remy. She enjoyed traveling with her soul-sister Kim, visiting the cabin or lake house in Michigan, and enjoying the best things that life could offer: laughter with good company. Her loving personality, kindness, and ability to put others before herself will truly be missed and never forgotten.
