Sharon J. Schuman, 70, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 10:00 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday and from 9:30 am - 10:30 am Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. A wake service will be conducted at 4:00 pm Tuesday in the funeral chapel.

She was born February 13, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late George and Jeanette (Rinkle) Szymkowski. On December 15, 1982 she married Robert Schuman who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are a son, Stephen Schuman of Westminster, CA; daughter, Stephanie Schuman of Hsinchu, Taiwan; and two brothers, Robert Szymkowski and Jerry Szymkowski, both of Florida.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jim Szymkowski; sister, Mary Anne Szymkowski; and her niece, Shauna Szymkowski.

Sharon worked as an English teacher for 40 years in both Louisiana and Michigan City Area Schools. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters Degree from Indiana University. Sharon was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed attending family reunions, gardening, sewing and spending time with her children.
