Sandra Kedo Obituary

Sandra Suzanne Kedo
January 22, 1957 - April 16, 2025

Sandra Suzanne Kedo, 68, of Michigan City passed away on April 16, 2025 in Michigan City, IN.

Sandy was born January 22, 1957 in Chicago, IL.

Surviving are her brother, Alexander Kedo, III (Lisa) of Louisville, KY; niece, Miki A. Razo (Nicholas) of Tyron, NC; nephew Benjamin A. Kedo (Leslie) of Alexandria, VA; nephew, Christopher J Schaub (Christina) of San Francisco, CA; niece, Rebecca E. Garcia (Daniel) of Chicago, IL; and niece, Victoria G. Hutchins (Joshua) of Louisville, KY; many grandnephews and grandnieces.  She was preceded in death by her father Alexander Kedo, Jr, and her mother Zofiya Kedo.

Sandy was a very involved aunt in the lives of her many nieces and nephews and found great joy in being present to celebrate their many milestones and accomplishments.

Sandy was an art teacher with the Michigan City school system for forty-one years, retiring in 2022.  She has touched the lives of numerous Michigan City’s young people through her compassion, wise counsel, and love of art.  She will be well remembered for her cheery upbeat personality.

Sandy was born in the Chicago area and was active with the Girl Scouts and the local community swim team in her early years.  Sandy attended Mother McAuley High School in Chicago and when her family relocated to Michigan City, continued her education at Indiana University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Education.  Choosing to stay close to her family, she accepted a teaching position in Michigan City before retiring after over 41 years as an art teacher.

Sandy was tirelessly active in support of Michigan City High School, participating on many committees and with the volleyball team, even during periods when she was dealing with her own health issues.  Her usual schedule began in the early morning and often continued until late in the evening.  During the summer months, Sandy could often be found on the streets of Michigan City training the city’s next generation of drivers.  For many years, Sandy was a parade float builder for the annual Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California and was a dedicated Disney fan.

Sandy will be missed by all.

A private celebration of her life will be held.  Cremation will take place.  The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN, is handling the arrangements.

Contributions may be made to the Michigan City High School Athletic Booster Club, 8466 W. Pahs Rd., Michigan City, IN 46360.
