Rosemary Ellis, 83, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully Friday, March 26, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Cremation will take place with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Private family services will be held. Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.
She was born January 6, 1938 in Michigan City, IN to the late Thomas J., Sr. and Rose (Kintzele) Orginski. On March 16, 1956 in Michigan City, Indiana she married former husband Gerald W. Ellis, who proceeded her in death June 21, 2007.
Surviving are daughter Debra (Nathaniel) Williams of Foley, AL; daughter Laura (Ross) Wyatt, of Walkerton, IN; son Gregory (Heather) Ellis of Chesterton, IN; son Timothy Ellis, Biloxi, MS; four grandchildren, Natalie Williams, Lydia Williams, Hunter Ellis, and Jaxon Ellis; sister-in-law Gert Orginski-Sprencel; four nieces and nephews Linda, Marie, Mike, and Renee; and special nephew Jim Wolovka of Palm Springs, CA. Rosemary is also survived by dear friend Maggi (Utley) Hays, and her favorite neighbor and "extra daughter" Tina Tabisz. She was preceded in death by infant son Steven Ellis; sister Lucille Wolavka and brother Thomas J. Orginski, Jr.; her dear friend Ursula (Skoczek) Gembala.
Rosemary attended St. Mary's School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1955. As a teenager, Rosemary worked at Scholl Dairy, and then went on to work in various administration positions for the Indiana State Prison, various local doctors, and Memorial Hospital. She also worked as a real estate agent until her retirement.
Rosemary volunteered for many events, enjoyed bowling and golfing. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, but most of all, with her grandchildren.
