November 1, 1936 - April 24, 2022
Richard L. Scrivnor, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully Sunday in his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 29, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and Friday from 10:00 AM till 10:30 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday evening in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel and full military services will be conducted Friday in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
He was born November 1, 1936 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Richard R. and Stella (Novitske) Scrivnor. On May 14, 1960 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Patricia(Knoll) Scrivnor who preceded him in death on May 24, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Doreen (Andrew) Groen of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Marcia (David) Havlin of Maineville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Christina (Jason) Scott, Candice (Josh) Godsey, Ryan (Merry) Groen, Thomas Groen, Corrine (Brad) Sams, Jacob Groen, Jacqueline Groen along with 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Staback and brother, Gerald Scrivnor also survive. He was preceded in death by great-grandchild, Theo Godsey; brother-in-law, Phil Staback and Sister-in-law, Gail Scrivnor;
Richard was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the Moose Family Center 980 and enjoyed being a part of many bowling leagues. He also was a member for many years with the Moose and Gratty's softball teams. Richard was a US Army veteran and retired after many years as a inside salesperson for Praxair, Inc., Michigan City, Indiana.
