Richard W. Jellison, 72, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 6:05 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Indiana.

A private family service will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

He was born July 19, 1948 in Michigan City, IN to the late Joseph and Catherine (Janke) Jellison.

Surviving are three sons, Brian Jellison of Willow Hill, IL, Jeff (Jenny) Jellison of New Carlisle, IN, Kiel (Mandy Levar) Jellison of Michigan City, IN; four grandchildren, Hayle, Jeffrey, Miya, Marcus; brother, Terry Jellison of Dayton, OH; He was preceded in death by brother, Barry Jellison; two sisters, Judy Luchene, Marilyn Sobecki.

Richard worked as a millwright for 47 years at ArcelorMittal and was a member of United Steelworkers local 6787. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam era. Richard was a very soft spoken, quiet, and very kind hearted man with a humble heart. He enjoyed his work and spending time with his family.
