Phillip Eugene Coil, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Franciscan Health, Michigan City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will take place at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., with the rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024. Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Queen of All Saints Legacy Center.
Phillip was born on September 29, 1943, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Grover Phillip and Loretta Elizabeth (Henrich) Coil. On September 26, 1970, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana, he married Marguerite (Wozniak) Coil, who survives in Michigan City.
Also surviving are his four children, Christopher (Missy) Coil of The Villages, Florida, Rebecca (Jay) Hoffman of Grantville, Pennsylvania, Brian (Michelle) Coil of Lucas, Texas, and Douglas (Lindsay) Coil of Arlington Heights, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Allison, Jack, Brennan, Mason, Mallory, Evan, Trevor, and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, John Wayne Coil.
Phil honorably served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 37. He was a plant attendant for NIPSCO for 38 years, working at the LNG Plant in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Phil was a hard working man that enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycles and playing Pinochle and Euchre with his friends and relatives. He loved his family deeply, being a great husband, father, and grandfather.
