Nelson Alvarado, 80, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 8:13 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN with Rev. David Kime officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center.
He was born April 29, 1945 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico to the late Bolivar and Rosa Maria (Rodriguez) Alvarado.
Surviving are his wife, Eneida Guzman of Michigan City, IN; two daughters, Eneida (Floyd) Morris of Stevensville, MI and Belinda Alvarado of Michigan City, IN; son, Nelson (Crystal) Alvarado, Jr. of Michigan City, IN; three grandchildren, Dana Malkowski, Brandon Malkowski and Brooklyn Alvardo; and four great-grandchildren, Alonzo, Diego, Liliana and Xiomara.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sonia Alvarado; and brother, Juan Alvarado.
Nelson was a retired Truck Driver. He was a faithful member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the Spanish Choir. He enjoyed music, gardening, fishing and playing Dominos. Nelson was known for the world's best pancakes and for his coleslaw.
