Neil J. Heywood
December 29, 1956 - November 4, 2025
Neil J. Heywood, of Beverly, IL and Long Beach, IN passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. Neil was a man who brought laughter, warmth, and kindness to everyone he met. He was loved by all who knew him.
Neil leaves behind his devoted wife of 37 years, Anne (Silvestrini) and their beloved daughters, Stefanie (Jason) Blank and Elizabeth (Marc) Pytynia. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to his four grandchildren-Jonathan (12), Leo (9), Riley (5), and Jameson (3)-who were his greatest joy.
A true adventurer at heart, Neil found joy in life’s simple pleasures - reading, traveling, and taking spontaneous road trips in search of a great meal. He especially loved visiting supper clubs along the way, where he could share a good story, enjoy a hearty laugh, and savor both the food and the company.
Neil was deeply loved by his nine brothers and sisters, Dennis (Bonnie), Jimmy (Sue), Eugene, Mark (Cindy), Anne (Mark) LeBaron and Loretto (Jim) Coogan CFD and the late Brian (Doreen) and Mary and Manny Steen. Proud uncle and great uncle to over 50 nieces and nephews. Best friend to numerous folks that crossed his path. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Heywood; and his aunt, Sister Catherine Hanlon.
Neil faced every challenge with courage and strength-he was a fighter until the very end. His joyful spirit, love of family, and zest for life will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Long Beach Country Club, 2309 Larchmont Ave., Long Beach, Indiana 46360. A private mass will be held for the family at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling the arrangements.
