Michael K. Gardner, Sr., 79, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with  Rev. Walter Rakoczy officiating. Private family burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana.   Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.  

He was born July 7, 1942 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Ivan "Gabby" and Lois (Held) Gardner. On January 5, 1963 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Marie (Kolasa) Gardner, who survives Michigan City, Indiana.  Also surviving are two sons, Michael K. (Karen) Gardner, Jr. of Fishers, Indiana, Gordon "Don" (Janet) Gardner of Michigan City, Indiana; daughter, Gabrielle "Gabby" (Chuck) Stantz of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; grandchildren, Kendall Gardner, Hannah Gardner, Chloe Stantz, Morgann Stantz, Peyton Stantz, Ashley (George) Fernandez, Tiffany (Will) Bartley, Brandon Rictor, Zoe Brown and Lucie Brown;  three great-grandchildren, Marianna Cain, Jace Smith and Liliana Fernandez; brother, Dennis "Pat" (Barbara) Gardner of La Porte, Indiana along many nieces, nephews and cousins; He was preceded in death by grandchild, Ryan Smith and a brother, John Gardner;   

Mike was the former owner Gardner Construction Co. and Decoys Neighborhood Bar & Grill, Michigan City, Indiana.  He also previously worked at the Michigan City Municipal Golf Course.  He enjoyed golfing, baking/cooking and was a social organizer for many events.  He also enjoyed time with his family and included friends.
