Melody Ann Swedenberg, 72, La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 9:41 a.m. in Life Care Center of Michigan City.

No services will be held. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

She was born on October 6, 1951, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Glen Allen and Norma Leona (Summers) Stombaugh.

Surviving are one daughter, Jessica (Jason) Holaway of La Porte, Indiana; one sister, Tina (Dennis) Webb of Gilbert, Arizona; one brother, Mark (Jackie) Stombaugh of Cave Creek, Arizona; two grandchildren, Ethan (Makenna) Krivak of Knox, Indiana and Emma Krivak of La Porte, Indiana; and four great-grandchildren, Everleigh Henderson, Audrey Krivak, Addison Krivak, and Aidan Krivak.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Allen Stombaugh; and mother, Norma Leona Stombaugh.

Melody graduated in 1969 from Elston High School, Michigan City. She first attended Ball State University, up until her junior year, then went on to finishing and earning her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Indiana University South Bend. Melody had a heart for horses, dogs, and cats with having many types of pets over the years. She was known for her cooking and baking, as her dishes were delicious and was enjoyed by many. Melody will be dearly missed.
