Mary L. Sorg, 83, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 12:30 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Private family services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

She was born December 21, 1939 in Coeburn, VA to the late Muncy Hilbert and Mary Elsie (Jordon) Adkins. In 1965 in New Buffalo, MI she married Sylvan “Slim” Sorg who preceded her.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Gerri Ratliff of Michigan City, IN; two grandchildren, James (Sarah) Ratliff of Fort Lupton, Co. and Matthew Ratliff of Fort Collins, Co; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Ratliff, Triston Ratliff, Henry Clark and Travis Dodge; and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Walden A. "Butch" Ratliff, Jr.; four sisters, Annette Adkins, Gay (Charles) Osborn, Fay "Ival" (Charles) Fannon and Nellie "Nell Ruth" (Jay) Bevins; three brothers, Jimmy Adkins, Junior Adkins and Elmer (Ina Ruth) Adkins; and two nieces and five nephews.

Mary was a beautician and also had worked as a home health care aide. She enjoyed playing the mandolin, socializing, food, country music and dancing.
