Margaret Mary Espar, 86, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 8:58 PM in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Due to local restrictions arising from the pandemic, a private family Mass of Christian burial will take place at Queen of all Saints Catholic Church with private family burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

Margaret was born December 12, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Mahana "John" and Sarah (Abraham) Nadaf. On August 5, 1956 in Michigan City, Indiana she married William G. Espar, who preceded her in death on November 9, 2009.

Margaret lived her entire adult life relishing her role as mother to her seven children, grandmother to her thirty grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and second mother to her twenty nieces and nephews. It was fitting that she entered eternal life joining Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and Mary our Blessed Mother to whom she was so devoted, on Mother’s Day.

Surviving are daughters, Rosanne Miller, Helen (Tony) Drzewiecki and Diane Espar-Haddad all of Michigan City, Indiana and Marianne Garrison of Golden, Colorado; sons, William Espar, M.D., John (Yolla) Espar and Marc Espar, all of Michigan City, Indiana; Grandchildren, Nicole (William) Knight, Katherine Miller, M.D., Natalie Miller, Michael (Megan) Drzewiecki, Sophia Drzewiecki, Andrea (David) Hunter, Jennifer Haddad, Jeremiah (Destinee) Haddad, Jacob Haddad, Joel Haddad, Julia (Dylan) Perney, Jessica Espar, Matthew Espar, Michelle Espar, Christina (Hayden) Janowiak, Emily Espar, Andrew Espar, Samantha Espar, Stephanie Espar, Hannah Garrison and Rachel Garrison; Great-Grandchildren, Cormac Knight, Luke Drzewiecki, Lillian Drzewiecki, Amaya Hunter, Marley Hunter, Ayden Haddad, Gabrianna Haddad, Nolan Haddad and Leah Haddad; sisters, Anna Marie Zaknoen and Helen Hathoot both of Michigan City, Indiana, Jeanene (Dr. George) Azar of Valparaiso, Indiana and Selma Azar of Schaumburg, Illinois; brothers, George (Diane) Nadaf of Fort Meyers, Florida and Michael Nadaf of Michigan City, Indiana and many more in her large extended family.

Margaret was a former member of Sacred Heart Church and member of Queen of all Saints Church where she served as Eucharistic minister and ministered in service to others as part of the funeral choir, funeral luncheon committee, Adoration Chapel and volunteering in the festival and church office. She served the broader community preparing meals for the Interfaith Community Shelter for the Homeless.
