Louie Maldonado
September 12, 1974 - February 17, 2025
From Chicago to the South Shore.
From rockabilly to RuPaul.
From his captain's hat to the tiki shack.
Trivia smackdowns and house music throwdowns. Performing stage musicals and karaoke miracles. Louie brought you joy, light, playfulness, love.
Yep, you loved him right away - and it just got better from there!
You know he loved his dear hubby!
And his lucky family and friends - and Rupert, his Schnoodle!
Our beloved Louie Maldonado, age 50, passed away on February 17th, 2025 after a brave extended battle with cancer. He was strong and resolute, to the point of 'toxic positivity' as one of his doctors quipped. He was immensely grateful to all those who supported him throughout.
Louie is survived by his adoring husband, Steven Steen; his loving mother, Francisca; father, Luis; mother-in-law, Georgia; brother, Alan; nieces, Maia and Layla; nephew, Nathan; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Known as Tiki Louie, Louie hosted Tiki-oke, voted best karaoke in the county, and loved his singers and home at Fiddlehead restaurant. He treasured his online Kamikaze Karaoke bear group in friendship and song. Louie discovered his acting bug and graced multiple regional musicals. He loved tiki art, classic cars, and kindly crushing you in a video game.
There will be no formal funeral or visitation. As Louie wished, there sure will be a celebration party this summer! Details to come. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana is handling the arrangements.
