Loretta M. "Toni" Gambill

Loretta M. "Toni" Gambill, 96, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 7:15 am in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 8, 2021 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Lonnie Mullins officiating. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Sunday and from 10:00 am  - 11:00 am Monday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.    

She was born August 19, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late Charles and Avanette (Brunn) Ahern. On December 31, 1955 in Beverly Shores, IN she married Walter "Jack" Gambill who preceded her in death on April 8, 2012.

Surviving are a son, Joseph (Lynn) Gambill, Sr. of Michigan City, IN; three grandchildren, Joseph (Angela) Gambill, Jr. of South Bend, IN, Kerri Spencer of South Bend, IN and Jason Gambill of Michigan City, IN; 9 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Ahern of The Pines, IN, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by son, Robert (Tien) Gambill; sister, Annabelle Sweeting; and brother, Charles Ahern.

Toni retired in 1987 from the South Shore Railroad. She was a member of Faith City Assembly of God Church,  VFW Ladies Auxiliary Unit #9423 in Rolling Prairie, IN and was a dog obedience trainer for 4-H. Toni was the Matriarch and the glue that held her family together. She saw a lot of change and lived an adventure filled life. She was quiet but fierce, loved her family and was a great friend. She will be deeply missed.
