Lois J. Staffel, 94, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024 at 4:30 pm in her home.

Private services will be conducted. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.  The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.    

She was born January 5, 1930 in Michigan City, IN to the late William and Lydia (Rabe) Markel. On October 16, 1954 in Michigan City, IN she married Carroll Staffel who preceded her on December 27, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynda Staffel of Michigan City, IN and Cheryl (James) Jackson of La Porte, IN; four grandchildren, Jami Lynn Jackson, Antonio Serrano, Ricardo Serrano and James Ross Jackson; and three great-grandchildren, Sage, Lincoln and Elise.

She was also  preceded in death by her son, Craig Abel; and two sisters, LaVerne Sjoberg and Dorothy Markel.   

She had worked as a catalog clerk at JCPenny. She enjoyed walking, was known as the neighborhood mom and was a John Lennon fan.
