Leon "Butch" Dipert, 74, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 7:30 am in Golden Living Center - La Porte,  La Porte, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm at the Hamon Gray American Legion Post #83, 228 E. Lincolnway, La Porte, Indiana.  Come share your stories and memories with the family.  Light lunch will be served.   The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana are caring for the arrangements.   

He was born June 10, 1946 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Floyd and Martha (Heck) Dipert. On September 8, 1984 in Walkerton, Indiana he married Sally Mark, who survives La Porte, Indiana along with a daughter, Leah (Brandon) Stacy of La Porte, Indiana and grandson, Benjamin Stacy;  sister, Judy (Tom) Haag of Donaldson, Indiana and a  brother, Terry (Gayla) Dipert of Walkerton, Indiana; He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Dipert and Lewis Dipert along with his nephew, Keith Dipert;  

Butch was a member of the North Liberty Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM and the Sons of the American Revolution Legion Post #83, La Porte, Indiana.  He worked in the family business at the Kingsbury Locker Plant for many years, grocery clerk at 5 Star Food Store, La Porte, night security guard at a local car dealership, then retired after 33 years as a truck driver for the city of La Porte street department.  After retirement he worked part time as a driver for Napa Auto Parts, La Porte, Indiana.  Butch enjoyed talking with family, friends, and even struck up conversations with strangers.
