August 18, 1954 - February 28, 2025
Kevin L. Hycner, 70, LaPorte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 2:43 pm in, LaPorte, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am -12:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana
He was born August 18, 1954 in Michigan City, IN to the late Thaddeus J. and Clara G. Kolasa.
Surviving are son, Bryan (Megan) Hycner of Nokomis, FL; Sister, Diane (Larry) Lauder of Franklin, TN; three grandchildren, Lee Hycner, Hunter Hycner, Audrey Hycner all of Nokomis, FL; He was preceded in death by both his parents and brother, David Hycner, Sr.
For over 30 years Kevin fought a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis never allowing the disease to diminish his sprit or define him.
During his career, Kevin loved working for United lift trucks. He enjoyed life on the road as a mechanic and dedicated his skills to fixing forklifts. Kevin was known for his skills and dedication, earning the respect from colleagues and customers. Even after retiring from United, he continued to tinker on projects in the garage, where you could most often find him.
Outside of his career Kevin found joy in many things. He had a deep love for motorcycles, especially his prized Honda Gold Wing. Riding was one of his greatest joys, offering him freedom and adventure of the open road.
Kevin’s love for the outdoors carried over to many other activities; Camping, fishing, hiking, hog roast, splitting firewood, NASCAR and being involved with Cub Scouts. It is in these activities that he shared his passion for the outdoors and mechanics with his son Bryan.
