Karl D. Kintzele
June 10, 1950 - April 27, 2023
Karl David Kintzele passed away on April 27, 2023, after a long illness and in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, is handling arrangements.
Karl was born on June 10, 1950, in Michigan City to Corinne and Albert Kintzele. He graduated from Elston High School and earned his bachelors from Indiana University and his MBA from the University of Tennessee, after which he became a CPA. He was employed by Teledyne, Inc. as Auditing Manager for 20 years and as Vice President of Internal Audit for Wabash National and then American Commercial Lines.
He always liked to be busy. He was happiest when he was working on projects around the house---adding a bathroom or a closet, updating the kitchen, bricking the driveway, etc. He didn't do most of the work, but he enjoyed planning and directing it! He helped his good friend, the late Phil Keen, build a house and was grateful for all he learned in the process. Karl was very knowledgeable in many areas and his family and friends often asked his advice. He was kind, honest and generous and will be missed by many.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Fran, his brother Philip Kintzele, his stepdaughter Julie Ives and grandsons Owen and Cameron Ives. His family is very grateful to Marianne Willming, Mota Herberto and Jim Witowski without whom he could not have stayed in his home where he wanted to be.
