Karen M. Evans, 79, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 5:00 pm in her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life gathering with family and friends will be Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 3:00 pm till 5:00 pm in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

She was born April 8, 1941 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Joseph and Lenora (Janz) DeBald. On July 8, 1961 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Larry M. Evans having accepting his proposal from the La Porte Library steps. Her loving husband Larry, survives Michigan City, Indiana along with four daughters, Tammie (David) Baker of Tampa, Florida, Gloria (Kiven) Francis of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Lisa (Greg) Burnett of Michigan City, Indiana and Melanie Evans of Trail Creek, Indiana; Grandchildren, Shane (Andrea Cote) Baker, Amber Burnett, Alicia (Ryan) Wilhelm, Ryan Francis, Lucas (Kyleigh Dickens) Burnett, Brad Francis, Alex Kroczek, Laura Kroczek, Bryson Baker and Emily Kroczek; Great-Grandchildren, Malaki and Noah Wilhelm, Jaiden, Maddisyn, Aubrianna and Alayna Burnett, Zachary Baker; sisters, Shirley Bingham of Bradenton, Florida and Deloris Miller of La Porte, Indiana and brother, David DeBald. She was preceded in death her brother, Richard DeBald;

Karen graduated from St. Mary's High School (Marquette Catholic High School) Michigan City, Indiana. She met the love of her life while working as a waitress at the M & M Diner, Michigan City, Indiana. Larry would hitchhike to Michigan City while serving in the Navy to visit her.
