Julie A. McKee, 60, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 5:30 a.m., in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.  

She was born September 14, 1963, in La Porte, Indiana, to James and Sarah (Shaw) Lofton. On August 16, 1986, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Michael W. McKee, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Also surviving are her father, James Lofton of Colorado; two sons, Mason McKee of Washington, DC and Mitchell McKee of Valparaiso, Indiana; three brothers, Mike Lofton, Kurt (Kathy) Lofton, and Scott (Brenda) Lofton, all of La Porte, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Lofton; and one brother, Greg Lofton.

Julie was previously a Server at Hammer's Restaurant and for the Blue Chip Casino Banquet Hall. She was past Deli Manager at Al's West, La Porte, Indiana. Julie was known to be a very talented baker, making many types of goodies for everyone. She passionately loved her family from top to bottom. Julie had a caring heart towards animals, having many pets over the years and feeding the birds daily outside her home. Her favorite bird was Cardinals and she made many squirrel friends as well, that visited her often for food. Julie will be deeply missed.
