Joyce Ann Jarka, 81, Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 6:16 p.m. in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, Indiana

Private services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements. 

She was born on December 3, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Arthur M. and Clara Patricia (Melesky) Hut. On June 22, 1963, in New Buffalo, Michigan, she married Thomas Paul Jarka, who preceded her in death on November 9, 2023.

Surviving are her three sons, Thomas (Kelly) Jarka and Ted (Suzanne) Jarka both of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, and Todd (Shelly) Jarka of Hanna, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Brock (Kristina) Jarka, Margaux (Joseph) Kozlak, Audrey Jarka, Grant Jarka, Brody Jarka, Ethan Jarka, and Molly Jarka; and three great-grandchildren, Boden, Nayvee, and Brinley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Art Hut; and one sister, June Snodgrass.   

Joyce was employed with the La Porte County Sheriff's Department until 1983, where she made many lifelong friends and found memories. She formerly attended St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Rolling Prairie. Joyce previously bowled in bowling leagues and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. She was a avid reader, a loving and devoted grandmother, and one who especially adored her three great grandchildren. Joyce was very excited about her fourth great grandchild due in April. She will deeply be missed.
