Josephine "Josie" M. (Albano) Pawloski
February 17, 1932 - August 17, 2023
Josie passed away on August 17, 2023 in the presence of her loving family. She was born to Frank and Rosalie (Taoiosazzio) Albano on February 17, 1932. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1950 and became an operator for Indiana Bell Telephone. She also worked at the Indiana State Prison as a switchboard operator and receptionist for Warden Alfred Dowd. Josie also spent many years working for the family-owned Albano’s and Benny’s restaurants.
Josie married Francis (Bud) S. Pawloski in 1952 and they had four children. They raised the kids at their home on Buffalo Street where each summer Josie enjoy watching the kids play ball and other games in the adjacent field. Josie loved children and although she worked throughout her life, spending time with her kids and grandkids brought her the most joy.
There is not enough space to say all the things that made Josie a special person. She went above and beyond to help, to comfort, and to support others. Her family meant everything to her. She was caring and loving with her children and grandchildren and others as well. Her nurturing qualities will be greatly missed but will remain among our greatest memories of her.
Josie enjoyed the company of many friends over the years, especially long-time friend Judy Caddo; they went everywhere together and were always there for each other. She loved her trips to Las Vegas and even won a big jackpot. She enjoyed playing bingo and going for coffee, breakfast, or lunch with family and friends. Josie had a big heart and always had space in it for another child or another friend or anyone who needed her help, sought her advice, or just needed to talk. She was known to many and loved by all!
