Joseph E. Roderick, Jr., 81, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 8:38 pm in Northwest Health-La Porte.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Jack Andrews officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Saturday at the funeral chapel
He was born June 5, 1944 in Michigan City, IN. On November 28, 1965 in Michigan City, IN he married Catherine "Taffy" (Cathy) Timbrook who survives in La Porte, IN. Together they shared over 60 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two sisters, Janice Mitchell and Juli-Ann (Gary) Bateman; his uncle, Richard Roderick; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Roderick, Sr.; mother, Mabel Batzel (Jacob) Bingman; two brothers, Ner Bingman and Randy Bingman; grandparents, Arthur & Emma Batzel, Curtis & Hazel Roderick and Merrill & Margaret Bingman; aunts, Margaret Bowman, Irene Archer, Pearl Stueck, Clara Hahn, Marion Kniola, Jane Lane and Beulah Fisher; uncles, Ralph, George, Russell, Edward and Richard Batzel and Mel, Jim, Bernie, Rodney and Floyd Roderick.
Joseph retired after 58 years as a Journeyman Electrician with Local 531 and was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 531 and a life member of the New Buffalo Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and trap shooting. Joseph looked forward to meeting his retired electrician friends for breakfast every Tuesday morning.
