John J. Quinn, 87, Michigan City, passed away Tuesday, November 19th, 2024.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Zach Glick officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the Queen of All Saints Legacy Center. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born in Chicago, IL to the late John and Mary (nee Malone) Quinn. Brother of Edward, the late Mary Ann and the late Patricia, the late Bob and the late Beverly Quinn. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen. Loving Father of Christian (Rick) Fiala, the late Caroline Hattenberger, Emily Hattenberger, Mary Kate (Ben Allen), Jill (Chris Alford), Joan (Joe) Furore. Adoring Grandfather of Ryan, Dane, Lillian, Lauren, Jack, Gus, and Mary Frances. Loving uncle of John (Jill) Quinn, Laura (Bill) Dodd, Stacy Quinn, Karen Quinn, Beth (Matt) McAndrews.
Dedicated member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Michigan City. John was an avid gardener, a long time Lionel train enthusiast, and a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. He served on the Michigan City Port Authority board for several years. John was Ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1963. Served in that capacity for over 28 years in various parishes throughout the city. Most notably as the Executive Director of the Catholic Conference for the State of Illinois and ended his career with DCFS of Illinois at juvenile court.
