John Fredrick Burden, 78, New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 7:06 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

A committal service will take place at 9:30 a.m. CST / 10:30 a.m. EST on Friday, August 9, 2024 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, in Augusta, Michigan. Inurnment will take place after the service. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana is handling the arrangements.

He was born on July 23, 1945, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Charles and Doris (Soderquist) Burden.

Surviving are his son, Bryan (wife, Susan) Burden of Lafayette, Indiana; daughter Kelli Goedhart of Delphi, Indiana; sister, Carol Gardner of Prescott, Arizona; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Barbara Landis.  

John served his country in the United States Army from July of 1968 to July of 1970, honorably discharged holding the rank of Sergeant.
