Jeremy Shane Smith, age 48, of Michigan City, IN passed away at home on Saturday, June 22, 2019. He was born on September 12, 1970 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Janet E. Monville and step-father Roy Monville.

Jeremy was a graduate of Ellison High School in Killeen, TX, and received his bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Jeremy was a lifelong learner, and he spent a lot of his time expanding his mind on various subjects. He was passionate about his work as a nurse and took his job in the medical field with seriousness and intense care. Jeremy was a fighter, who never backed down both in his illness and in life in general. Even as a child, Jeremy was headstrong. Jeremy was never lost, he always knew exactly where he was at.
