Jean C. Tapocik, 88, Michigan City, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, IN with Rev. Jordan Fetcko officiating. Private burial will take place in New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles, PA. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
She was born July 1, 1933 in McKeesport, PA to the late Vincent and Kathryn (Fowler) Clayton. On May 18, 1957 she married the love of her live, her high school sweetheart, John Tapocik who preceded in death on May 21, 2018.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen (Shaun) Fowler of Logansport, IN, Bonnie Kmiecik of Trail Creek, IN and Susan (Dion) Paholski of Trail Creek, IN; grandchildren, Stacy Robinson, Carrie (Aaron) Griffin, Ashley (Jeff) Jehl, Thomas Kutch, Austin Paholski and Abigail Paholski; and five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Willow and Daniel Griffin, and Elise and Henry Jehl.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Clayton.
Jean was blessed to have five wonderful caregivers; Kathryn Thomas, LaJuana White, Toni White, Felicia Stantz and Cheryl Ramsey who provided excellent care and became part of her family. We would also like to thank her nurse April and her bath aide Priscilla from Dunes Hospice. They were beyond professional, helpful and compassionate. They definitely made her end of life better.
Jean was the most loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them.
She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Jean will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for her quick wit and funny sense of humor. She also had such love and compassion for others.
