James Strakowski, 91, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 5:00 am in Aperion Care - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Queen of all Saints Catholic Church, 606 So. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. David Kime officiating. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum . Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Wednesday until the time of Mass in the Queen of all Saints Legacy Center, 606 So. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born August 25, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Walter and Frances (Rozinski) Strakowski, Sr. On September 4, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Rita M. Welnetz who preceded him in death on August 9, 2012. Surviving are two sons, Jonathan (Susan) Strakowski of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, David (Julie) Strakowski of La Porte, Indiana; two daughters, Susan (Robin) Laughlin of Cascade, Idaho, Mary (John) Hampel of Westville, Indiana; two grandsons, Timothy J. (Brittany) Strakowski, and Dylan L. Laughlin; granddaughter, Meghan M. Laughlin; two great-granddaughters, Maya R. Strakowski, and Kiera M. Strakowski; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Strakowski of Nappanee, Indiana; brother-in-law, Wallace Kroening of La Porte, Indiana; He was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip D. Strakowski; two brothers, Walter Strakowski, Jr., and Robert Strakowski; along with two sisters, Elizabeth Strakowski, and Virginia Kroening;
Mr. Strakowski was a custom builder and owner of Strakowski Construction Co., Michigan City, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.
