James Allen Lanie, 86, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 6:03 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

Per Jim's request cremation will take place.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born July 4, 1939 in Browns Valley, Minnesota to the late  Henry, Jr., and Elizabeth (Bangle) Lanie . On October 10, 1959 in La Porte, Indiana he married Hilde Dilp who survives, Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are son, Corren "Corey" (Tracy) Lanie of Apopka, Florida; two grandchildren, Courtney Lanie of New York City, New York, Connor (Melinda) Lanie of Alaska;   
Jim retired after 27 years from Hitachi Global Air Power/Sullair Mfg., Michigan City, Indiana as a tool maker.  Jim was a member of Queen of all Saints Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana.  He enjoyed gardening and  tinkering in his garage.  He was also a veteran of the US Army.
