James Bell Covington, 80, Michigan City, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 9:34 am in his daughter's home.
Services will be announced at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born January 29, 1940 in Hammond, IN to the late Bruce and Luella Covington. On June 29, 1962 in Michigan City, IN he married Elaine A. Foldenauer who preceded him on April 24, 2017.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa (Seth Hoersten) DeMeyer of Michigan City, IN; three sons, Scott Covington of LaPorte, IN, Michael Covington of Lebanon, IN and Joseph (Mary Louise) Covington of LaPorte, IN; four grandchildren, Alexis DeMeyer, Thomas Covington, Andrea Dompke and Joseph Dompke; sister, Beverly of Terre Haute, IN; and his brother, John (Jean) Covington of Indianapolis, IN.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Nowatzke and Betty Lim.
James retired as a millwright at Bethlehem Steel and attended Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, swimming, U.S. history and was known for being a jokester.
