Jaime Huerta Sr., born on April 25th 1944 in Durango, Mexico, passed away at the age of 79 on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in his home in Michigan City, Indiana. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Jaime Huerta Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral chapel.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carlota (Berumen) Martinez; one sister, Christine Medellin; and two brothers, Tony Medellin and Fernando Huerta. 

Jaime leaves behind a large loving family. A dedicated Husband (Hilda Huerta-wife), Father and Grandfather. Jaime was a hard worker and retired in April of 2009 from U.S Steel. Jaime loved talking to people, even if he didn’t know them and made connections everywhere he went. Our story teller was also a huge lover of all types of music, but especially a fan of Elvis Presley. Jaime loved to sing and had a great voice. His infectious laugh will be missed by his family and he leaves behind great family memories. He was a strong man of faith and leaves us in comfort with one of his favorite quotes.
